- Set up of the First Turmeric Curcumin Extraction Centre in the region, where the curcumin’s content in turmeric can be known within ten minutes in Laskein, East Jaintia Hills under the aegis of the Lakadong Turmeric Mission, which started four years back under the guidance of Meghalaya Farmers Empowerment Commission Chairman K. N. Kumar.
- Agritech start-up AgNext & Spices Board tie up for quality testing solution for Meghalaya's Lakadong Turmeric to offer AI-based testing technology to check the quality of Meghalaya's renowned Lakadong turmeric. This technology has been deployed at AgNext's turmeric processing unit (TPU) located at the horticultural hub in Thadlaskein and will be operated by woman farmers associated with self-help groups (SHGs).
The Commission is also working with innovators to develop turmeric washer-cum-polisher which is the first of its kind in the country.
