Farmers’ Commission to look into agri sector: Prestone

KN Kumar gets chairman post
LYNGKYRDEM: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the state government was prompted to set up the Farmer’s Commission since 72 per cent of people’s livelihood in the state depends on agriculture.
He was speaking at a gathering at Lyngkyrdem on the occasion of World Environment Dayon Wednesday.
Later, speaking to reporters, he said the Commission will look into the welfare of the agricultural sector and KN Kumar has also been appointed as its chairman.
Kumar retired on May 31 and subsequently he got the assignment as the chairman of Farmers’ Commission.
Tynsong said the Commission will make recommendations to the state government following which it will implement accordingly.
As for the other members of the Commission, he said the government will draw members from different allied sectors.
